Somalia:Four killed in clan retaliatory attacks

MOGADISHU (Mareeg) –At least four people have been killed in fighting between two Somali clans in Villages of Wanlawayn district in Lower Shabelle Region for the past 24 hours, witnesses said on Tuesday.

The fighting erupted after the clans have disputed in water ponds in the area. Residents said when the fighting had ended, militias from the two clans started to retaliate each other.

Hundreds of families started to flee from the area in fear for further retaliatory attacks and fled to near by regions.

Somalis have been fighting in clan and political wars since 1991 when warlords ousted Mohamed Siad Barre.
