MOGADISHU (Mareeg)—Hundreds of people, mostly women and children have taken the street that connects Mogadishu and Afgoye on Monday complaining about lack of food and housing. The demonstrators gathered in Hawo Abdi residence between Mogadishu and Afgoye and were carrying placards showing the difficulties they are facing in. Thousands of displaced Somali families reside along the long road between Mogadishu and Afgoye, a town 30 km south of the capital. The families fled from the fighting between Islamist rebels and the government soldiers backed by African Union troops in Mogadishu. The families have been living in the area for the last three years. The demonstrators said they did not get aid for almost two years. Mareeg Online
