MOGADISHU Somalia(MAREEG) – the African Union officials AMISOM especially the Burundian troops have said on Tuesday that their forces will go to further areas in or around the Somali capital Mogadishu.

Chauvin, the Spokesman of the Burundian troops said in an interview with Shabelle radio that the troops could go any where in the country if it is allowed by the African Union (AU) heads pointing out that they would also defend themselves if their positions attacked.

“We are not here for war. But for peace, so we do not have enemy here in Somalia. I will not say to you we shall go to there and there. But we shall go to any where in the country if we are attacked and continues the fighting further than as it is now,” the spokesman said.

Asked about the mortar shells often targeted to Bakara market, the spokesman replied that the AMSIOM troops are not responsible for it saying that they will not also take its responsibility pointing out that it was behind by what he described the Somalis whom he said were fighting each other in the capital.

The statement of AMISOM troops’ officials comes as there was fighting between the Burundian forces and the Islamist fighters of Harakat Al-shabab Mujahideen who claimed burning at least three armed vehicles of the Burundian troops which started at around Kulliyada Jalle Si’ad building after land mine explosion targeted to AMISOM troops’ military convoy traveling around the area.
