Moqdishu (Mareeg) – tense situation has risen in northeast of Beledweyn town in central Somalia, just after heavy fighting between the transitional government soldiers and fighters loyal to the Islamic administration of Hizbul Islam, witnesses and officials said on Sunday. Reports from the town say that there are tense situations rising from several villages in the north east of the Beledweyn town where both the Islamist fighters of Hizbul Islam and transitional government soldiers fought bitterly on Saturday and until overnight. People in the region reported that they could see both the rival sides amassing troops and preparing fighting saying that they were very concerned about the possibility of other fighting that breaks out at around the town once again. Several people were killed and others were wounded in yesterday and overnight’s fighting between Hizbul Islam and government soldiers near the town though it was too difficult to be confirmed. Beledweyn tow is the regional capital of Hiran region in central Somalia and completely controlled by the fighters of the Islamic administration of Hizbul Islam as they took over its control from them earlier. Most of the clashes between both sides continued at Ugas Qalid international airport, Janta Kundishe maintains and Burta Qawlet where both sides exchanged heavy gunfire which caused more of the residents to be concerned. We had contacted with some officials of Hizbul Islam in Beledweyn town to know more about the fighting and said that the government soldiers attacked the town into several directions pointing out that they protected them with fighting. There is no comment from the government officials so far as the fighting of both sides also affected the movement o f the traffic between the north sides of Beledweyn town in Hiran region.
