MOGADISHU (Mareeg)—At least five people have been killed and four others have seriously injured after a lorry they were travelling overturned in Wanlaweyn town about 100 km south of Mogadishu, witnesses say.
The car accident came after the driver of the overturned lorry tried to avoid a donkey cart in the road, but the car went off the road and overturned.
The wounded patients have been rushed to small hospital in Wanlawayn town. The car left Mogadishu and was heading to Baidoa town 250 km south of the capital.
The condition of the wounded patients was reportedly serious and they were being in Wanlaweyn hospital.
The car accidents are often caused by rough roads in the country. The country has not had an effective central government since 1991 when warlords overthrew President, Mohamed Siad Barre, who ruled Somalia over twenty years.
