Somalia: New police and military chiefs appointed


MOGADISHU (Mareeg) - Somalia's government has appointed new police and military heads after the president sacked former police and military chiefs on Sunday. 


The cabinet ministers chaired by Prime Minister, Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarkle, approved the new heads.
 

General Ali Mohamed Hassan known as Ali Madobe ,a former ambassador was appointed as the police commander and he replaces  General Abdi Hasan Awale Qeibdeed.
 

Colonel Mohamed Gelle Kahiye, was also appointed as Somali military commander and he replaces General Hussein Yusuf Dhumal.
  

Abdi Haji Gobdon, a spokesman for the prime Minister said the prime minister and his cabinet have agreed to make the changes to tackle the security problems in Somalia.
 

Ali Mohamed Hassan held the post of the police chief before under the administration of former president Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed.
