Somalia: 4 killed in clashes between pirates
HARARDHERE (Mareeg)—At least 4 people have been killed and 5 others have been injured in infighting between pirates over a ransom in Harardhere town in central Somalia, witnesses said on Tuesday.
One pirate is among the people killed in the battle between the pirates. Residents in the coastal town of Harardhere in Mudug region in central Somalia expressed concern about the incident.
The clashes between the Somali pirates started in the town on Monday afternoon and continued till evening.
Pirates armed with heavy weapons engaged in a battle over the ransom for a hijacked ship, but clan elders and other prominent people in the town mediated between them.
The incident occurred after the Greek oil tanker Maran Centaurus was released on Monday.
